Jordan Downs Redevelopment at Watts Housing projects promises to bring a new vision for Watts families |

John King II, Director of Planning and Policy of Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles was interviewed by Mark Brown from ABC 7 to talk about the redevelopment plan in Jordan Downs housing projects.
Watts Jordan Downs Housing Projects originally built to house independent workers during WWII Projects now has a new redevelopment plan, “Urban Village” that promises to bring an encouraging new vision to these families with mixed income community, including public housing, affordable housing and market rate housing which give the residents multiple housing options and news aspirations.
Besides the physical investment in new housing, the long term vision of this redevelopment in Watts includes invest in its people, the family of Jordan Downs with new programs and support groups to help break the cycle of poverty. The ultimate goal is to increase and improve self sufficiency in such a way that could increase the educational outcomes and academic achievements, and also increase the employment and employability to the residents. |
