Jordan Downs

The Motivated Mothers of Jordan Downs had a session on November 30th focused on financial planning. The mothers considered examples where establishing budgets and saving and checking accounts helped them during emergencies or even when wanting to do an expensive family activity. This session also helped the moms learn more about the benefits of online banking. Leading the financial presentation was Karla Greene from State Farm.

 We also had guest speakers: Sharon White from Watts Healthcare Corporation providing information on their Community Wellness Center. The center provides many health services and education programs from infectious diseases to substance abuse, nutrition and counseling. Next presentation was by Elder Michael Cummings from We Care Outreach Ministries. Mr. Cummings spoke about Project Fatherhood, a group for fathers to receive support and counseling. Project Fatherhood is open to any male resident interested in participating in the sessions on Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Jordan Downs Community Center.  Mr. Cummings asked for the mothers to invite fathers to these evening sessions.
