Security Cameras at Jordan Downs |

The Housing Authority partners with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to provide additional security cameras at Jordan Downs. By early next year, 18 new cameras are expected to be operating in the community. The focus is to increase safety for residents. As stated by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa: “Using camera technology has proven to be successful in deterring and prosecuting crimes [and…] the video system will play a critical role in securing safe neighborhoods in some of the City’s most vulnerable communities.” The cameras will be a large part of the overall strategy to continue to reduce crime and as stated by LAPD Chief of Police, Charlie Beck “[the initiative] strengthen[s] partnerships in the communities we serve.” The safety camera initiative is made possible through available stimulus funds.
